Many of the future Princess’ outfits have become the inspiration for eveningwear at family functions and special occasions, and even Kate’s daywear has proved popular. Her style is one of simplicity, elegance and sophistication. Noticeably the Prince’s fiancé has taken to fascinators – and it seems that the nation have too. Retailers have announced a 65 per cent increase in sales of fascinators and other occasion headgear. Exclusive London department stores such as Harvey Nichols and Selfridges have noticed a particular surge during the months following the Royal engagement.
Sale of fascinators are believed to have doubled since the last year, which fashion designer Cherry Chau calls “fantastic”. She gave further comment saying that: "Kate is such an icon and she's been wearing our fascinators for quite some time now - since she was at St Andrews. The designer added that: "There's something really cool and really real about her that people just want to have. Her kind of luck, her kind of life, her kind of confidence."
With a host of events up and down the country in honour of the Royal Wedding, there’s sure to be many opportunities to follow in Kate’s footsteps and favour that wonderful fascinator. With Kate as a popular style icon, perhaps the fascinator is set to be the crown of fashion followers.
