Princess Kate - Camp Royale

Thousands of street parties are expected to take place in celebration of the wedding of the year, that of Prince William and Kate Middleton on the 29th of April. News now comes that a campsite will be created as part of the festivities in the heart of the capital. The campsite will be located on Clapham Common, one of London’s most loved parks and is to be named Camp Royale. The event will last for three nights opening from the day prior to the wedding Thursday the 28th April and lasting until Sunday the 1st of May. Camp Royale is said to be one of the more affordable ways of joining in with the celebrations.

The location for the Camp is ideal for revellers wishing to locate to Westminster Abbey, which is where the Royal Wedding service will take place, to get nearer to the action. Camp Royale is set to accommodate around 10,000 people and other than the mass of tents, there will undoubtedly be streamers, Union Jack flags and bunting a-plenty. A giant screen will be erected in the Clapham Common Camp to display the day’s events. Campers will be invited to take part in a number of competitions such as best-dressed guests, and even prizes for the best decorated tents. Free Yorkshire Tea will be handed out whilst campers marvel in the events.

Clapham Common is located in the London borough of Lambeth, where a council spokesman said: "Clapham Common is a London landmark and a great location for royal wedding visitors and partygoers to base themselves and join in the fun... we are delighted to be part of the celebrations. This event is totally unique."

The three night camping experience will be priced at £75 per person which will allow the public to celebrate the Royal occasion without breaking the bank. These will be happy campers!
