Princess Kate - The World Relishes in the Royal Wedding Festivities

Today was the day of the greatly anticipated Royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. The wedding ceremony began at 11am at Westminster Abbey, and afterwards guests attended Buckingham Palace for photographs and the all important Balcony appearance of the Royal family, led by the newly-weds.

Following the day’s event were many revellers in Central London, observers at home across the United Kingdom and right across the world. The world’s media have become captured by the events leading up to and, of course the day itself. A tremendous amount of positive reaction has been expressed by news teams here and overseas, both by reporters and the people of the nation.

German newspaper, Frankfurter Allgemeine, opened with the headline, "A Royal Wedding for the Middle Classes" to highlight the non-aristocratic background of the new Princess, Kate. Whilst Down Under, Australians have been in high spirits over the Royal Wedding, with four news channels covering the event and thousands of street parties across the country. Sydney’s Morning Herald newspaper documented the Royal occasion with the headline: "United in hope for their kingdom." The newspaper stated that: "The marriage will not only open a new chapter in the history of the British monarchy but provide a vivid first glimpse of a restyled Windsor brand," Further interest for Australians was to see their prime minister, Julia Gillard, attended the wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The place where Prince William made his marriage proposal to his University Sweetheart, Kate Middleton has put on celebrations of its own. The Rift Valley town of Naivasha in Kenya, red roses were selected and shared by the Kenyan Tourism Board. In the town of Karen, a restaurant showed the wedding coverage and served tea and scones and champagne. Union Jack flags and bunting decorated the restaurant.

A memorable day, all around.
